Welcome, we're Breedlove Market.

Business isn't colorblind. We're looking to even the playing field.

We're a black-owned marketplace that curates products exclusively from Black artisans and entrepreneurs. No more 'listicles', no more Googling 'black-owned businesses'. We do the work of finding black-owned businesses to make it easier to shop with a purpose.

Throughout American history, several black entrepreneurs have fought against the systemic racism and engineered inequality to become titans in their industry, leaders in political activism, and investors in their communities.

Madam C. J. Walker (née Sarah Breedlove) was one of the most well-known African-American entrepreneurs and gained her massive wealth by building a cosmetics and hair care empire, employing up to 20,000 African-Americans and re-investing much of her wealth back into her community.

Like Walker and several other Black Americans that overcame barriers and succeeded in business, Breedlove Market aims to re-invest back into the community, encouraging more entrepreneurs to take a leap of faith.

What's in a name?

Our Founding Story

America doesn't respect anything but money.

What we need is a few millionaires.

Madam C. J. Walker

Like the namesake of Breedlove Market, we too, believe that financial parity and closing the racial wealth gap are vital facets of the multi-dimensional effort for racial equality. African-Americans are underrepresented in almost every view of America's economy; homeownership, entrepreneurship, stock market participation, higher education and asset inheritance.

Along with millions of other Americans, our founders participated in the #BuyBlack campaign in the summer of 2020. Located in the San Francisco Bay Area, it was difficult to find local business and all searches online returned listicle after listicle of different businesses. Purchasing from large online retailers like Walmart & Amazon were non-starters as there was minimal information on who manufactured the products. There had to be an easier way, and so we started Breedlove Market, a marketplace devoted to featuring black-owned brands and businesses.

Breedlove Market's mission is to increase and support black entrepreneurship, in turn, helping to close the racial wealth gap, promote job creation and celebrate black culture.
